Cheap junk that's way below spec

I'd be amazed that this junk has gotten so many positive reviews if I didn't already know from experience that, for most reviewers, the fact that a given cable or charger actually works is enough to give it a 5 star review.

Does this cable work? Yes. If you connect it from your smartphone or tablet to your wall charger wart, it will eventually charge your device.

Will it do it as quickly as a USB 2.0 cable should? Absolutely not.

Many of the current smartphones and all tablets require more than the usual 500mA (0.5 amps) charger to be adequately charged. That's why they all come with 2.0/2.1 amp chargers. The charger is not enough, however. The USB cable connected to the charger must be capable of allowing the device to draw the requisite charge (usually, around 1.8 amps).

These cables are not capable of doing so. I tested them with various charging warts (I have 5-6 of them). Two of the three cables drew only 500mA -- just what you'd get using that old Motorola charger you used with your old RAZR phone or connecting your device to the PC. The third went as high as 900mA, which is still about half of what you need for adequate charging of tablets and newer smartphones. What this means is that your device takes a good deal longer to charge than it otherwise would.

In short, you're not getting what you're paying for here -- a USB 2.0 cable that can deliver the required amperage.

Good size, good price, good quality

Both ends of the cable are secure and proper size. They fit all of our phones. I have been using them for a few months and have had no problems, even though I sometimes just shove them in my crowded backpack instead of properly coiling.

Just what I wanted

Solid, good price and work great. A bit shorter than I expected, which is both good and bad. Still, for the price these 'reactivated' a bunch of old chargers I have laying around.
