5Works on USB 2.0 and USB 3.0
By Sam
This is a well made, sturdy, albeit somewhat thick cable.

I bought it so that I could extend both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 cables. I.E., you can plug this cable into a USB 2.0 port on a computer and attach a USB 2.0 device or cable to the other end and it will work fine.

To be clear: you can attach a USB 2.0 phone cable to this extension cord, plug it into a USB 2.0 port on your PC and you will be able to both charge your phone and transfer data to and from it (at USB 2.0 speeds).

You can, of course, also plug this cable into a USB 3.0 port on a computer and plug a USB 3.0 device or cable into the other end and it will work fine.

Posting this info since some other reviewers were questioning this. The USB 3.0 standard is designed to be backwards compatible with USB 2.0 (and even USB 1.1).

The USB 3.0 connector is designed so that the extra pins needed for USB 3.0 are recessed, and they won't be used if the cable is plugged into a USB 2.0 port.

USB 3.0 is a superset of USB 2.0, so why not purchase an extension cable that will serve both types of devices and ports?

5Great Product, Very Happy with Purchase
By Amazon Shopping Addict
I purchased this for an external USB 3 JBOD enclosure I will need for my PC.

At the moment, I haven't received the JBOD enclosure, but I tested this cable with an Intel X25-V 40GB SSD in a MSI Coolmax HD-250TN-U3 USB 3 enclosure using a PCIe x1 Renesas 2-Port (EVGA EU30) card and saw HD Tune 2.55 return the following stats for a 4MB Block Size:
Transfer Rate:
Min: 134.6 MB/sec
Max: 149.2 MB/sec
Average 144.5 MB/sec
Access Time: 0.1 ms
Burst Rate: 73.6 MB/sec

This was with the SSD having 12.2 GB free of 37.2 GB.

When the SSD/enclosure was attached directly to the EU30 without using the extension cable, I saw the following results:
Transfer Rate:
Min: 138.0 MB/sec
Max: 149.4 MB/sec
Average 144.2 MB/sec
Access Time: 0.1 ms
Burst Rate: 74.5 MB/sec

My conclusion: No real speed loss when using the extension cable.

Other observations: The cable is nice and thick; the male/female ends feel strong and unlikely to break even with thousands of insertions/removal

UPDATE: When I used the extension cable with the NST-640SU3-BK enclosure, the disks would appear and disappear in Windows. Removing the cable fixed the issue.

5Important info for you on this
By Chriseveringham
This is a topnotch cable. Very good quality. Be aware, while usb 3.0 devices are usually backwards compatible you are not going to be able to buy this cord and connect it to a USB 2.0 port and have it work. I have had experience first hand with this happening to people and want to get this message out to who ever I can and maybe save someone the cost. But other then that one foot note, this item is excellent and the seller was right on the ball and got it out asap. If you need one I would go for it. I will come back to this seller in the future when I need these. Enjoy and God Bless.

4I love this keyboard
By Dave Edmiston
I'm typing this review on my Kindle Fire HD 8.9" using this BT keyboard. I never would have attempted to type a review without a keyboard like this.

I've had great luck with it. It paired up quickly and hasn't given me any trouble. The Kindle recognized it and gave me a 4 digit code to enter. I typed the code on the keyboard and it paired right up.

I've been using this on the commuter train when I travel and it's really fantastic. I read the other reviews and see where others had trouble. I assume these kinks have been worked out in the Kindle software, because it's working great for me.

A couple of nice things about the way it works with the Kindle Fire HD:

* Once the BT keyboard is paired, the soft keyboard no longer displays on the screen when you're in a text field. This leaves you with a lot more viewable space on the screen.

* You can navigate through the screen with the arrow keys and press enter to activate a button. Tapping on the screen is still faster, but it's nice to have the option to navigate either way.

* The Home and Menu buttons work great on the Fire. From any screen, press the Home button on the keyboard and it takes you to the Fire's home page.

4An excellent keyboard -- with one significant glitch (If you are having issues, might want to read this)
By Rob Blackwell
Like a lot of reviewers here, I struggled to find the right Bluetooth keyboard to go with my Kindle Fire HD. In the end, I decided to go with the Amazon one, figuring that because Amazon made the Fire and the keyboard, there would be fewer potential problems. At first, this was a good theory. I opened the keyboard as soon as it arrived and paired it immediately to my Kindle Fire HD. There were no problems and it worked perfectly.
At first.
Unfortunately for me, the next time I worked with the keyboard, I was on a plane trip. I decided to get some writing done (I write novels in my free time) and fired up the keyboard and the Fire. But this time, the keyboard wouldn't pair. At all. The Fire SAID the Keyboard could be paired -- it remembered they had been paired before -- but it just wouldn't pair it. I tried everything I could think of, including pressing the connect button on the keyboard several times to re-pair it. In the end, I had to give up. Instead, desperate to use the flight to write, I borrowed my wife's iPhone 4S. Oddly enough, that had NO problem connecting to the keyboard and I was writing in no time (albeit on a smaller screen and in the notes mode).
When I arrived on vacation, I was worried I had a lemon on my hands. Sure, the keyboard worked, but not with the Fire, only the iPhone. That wasn't the plan. I noticed that other reviews said that the keyboard worked initially with the Fire and then wouldn't work again. I thought there was a major glitch.
I decided to keep messing with it and discovered this problem and solution. If you ONLY pair the keyboard with the Fire, you will have no problems. Basically, you turn on the keyboard, fire up the, uh, Fire and go to the Bluetooth settings (under wireless), press the keyboard device, press a key on the keyboard (so it can detect it), and you are connected no problem.
If, on the other hand, you pair the keyboard with a DIFFERENT device -- like an iPhone or another Android tablet -- then things get wonky. Basically, the Fire won't recognize the keyboard at all, even if you try the initial pairing/connecting again.
Fortunately, the solution is fairly easy. You need to "unpair" the keyboard. You do this by pressing the keyboard device image on the Kindle Fire Bluetooth set-up screen. If you just press and hold for a few seconds, the Fire gives you the option to "unpair." Click it. Then all you have to do is re-pair the keyboard and Fire. This is also relatively simple. Click the "connect" button on the under-side of the keyboard, and tell the Fire to search for devices. You enter a 4-number code and you're done.
Be aware, however, that you will have to do this EVERY time you connect the keyboard to another device.
Overall, the keyboard works great. I've found it fast and responsive, and experienced none of the "repeating key" problems that others have. And if I never use the keyboard with another device, set-up is a breeze. If my wife does use it for her iPhone, be aware that the keyboard works fine with that device, BUT you will just to unpair and then repair the phone. It's not that big a deal once you do it a couple times, but for some, it might be an issue.
Hope this helps in your buying decision.

4Good keyboard, but where's the case? Here's a solution.
By LeoB
Using this with my Samsung Galaxy Note. Overall works fine, even though I'm on Gingerbread and not 3.0. Slim and lightweight. Pairs instantly. Some specialty keys don't work, but I'm not concerned as its purpose is just to get in text. This keyboard is much faster than the on-screen keyboard for inputting text.

However, Amazon does not sell a case for this keyboard. This is a perfect travel keyboard, but carrying it bare in my day bag concerned me. I did a LOT of searching for some kind of generic slip case that would fit. Nothing.

Then I stumbled on the Domke protective wrap, which is just a square of padded material with Velcro at the corners. It's designed for wrapping cameras and lenses. The 11" square fit the keyboard perfectly. I took it down to a local tailor shop and for $3 they sewed up the long side of the square when folded over on itself and one of the short sides creating a slip case. The protective wrap has a soft felt-like side and a nylon side. I folded it with the soft side on the inside. Now I have a perfect slip case for the keyboard, and for just about $15 ($12 for the wrap from Amazon and $3 for the sewing).

5Smooth Operator
By Suzinne Barrett
Admit it, wasn't sure how I was going to use this. Never heard of thermal laminators before, but my partner, being very experienced in the graphic arts, suggested that this just might be the ticket for image transfers. Have made transfers using acrylic mediums and plain old packing tape. This item is very lightweight and quite affordable. However, one needs to pay careful attention to the directions before using. Be sure to switch to proper pouch thickness (3 ml or 5 ml) and allow to heat up fully BEFORE feeding your photos through. Also, make sure switch is on OFF before plugging in unit. And make sure the light is GREEN before sending pouch through pouch entrance.

You get two 3 ml pouches with this. Pouches run about $12.99 per 100 (on Amazon). These pouches are fed through the unit, and they in fact provide the gloss that is thermally sealed onto your picture. Do NOT cut the pouch to alter it's size. Most will want to use this for their photographs, business/greeting cards or flyers. Place the photograph in the pouch, centering it within the pouch, leaving a quarter inch perimeter around your image, while avoiding all edges of the pouch. When the unit is fully heated up indicated by the green light, gently feed the pouch through the pouch entrance. The folded side of the pouch is the part that feeds directly into the slot. Helps to use some magazines or books to prop UNDER the pouch so it feeds completely flat and directly parallel to the pouch entrance without any tension or pulling to avoid any wrinkling. My first try resulted with a very strong wrinkle and certainly you want to avoid that. Be careful when handling image directly after laminating, especially the edges. They can get pretty hot.

If you want to create image transfers with fashion magazine images (which is what I use this for), put your photo (cut to fit within the parameters of an 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of paper) and place on a blank piece of paper or preferably cardstock for better support. Place photo FACE UP onto the backing sheet and gently slide into the pouch, folded corner up top, all the while centering it and avoiding edges of pouch. Feed into the slot as outlined above. Recommend you send image through two times for transfers (using same pouch). When laminated image has cooled off, remove backing sheet and place in a tray with a quarter inch of water, image face up. After 5 minutes, remove from water and simply peel off the paper.

Caution: As this unit gets hot and the resulting laminates even hotter, absolutely not suggested for use by children.

No instructions come with the unit, but found the link for the PDF of the manual (see below). Sent PDF to my Kindle device (I-Pad), and that was the easiest way to go. Happy laminating or image transferring!

4Great results but slow.
By Amazon Customer
Edit April 2014: After 6 months of use and hundreds of sheets laminated, it still works perfectly.

************************************************************************************************
Pretty straight forward laminator that works as you expect.
I use a pro grade one at my office, heavy duty, heats fast and the rollers run quickly to laminate a lot of sheets fast. Bought this one for the home office.

I'm using 5mil sheets with it, the results are perfect, no complaints. Unlike a pro grade heat laminator, you do not use a protective sheet/ pouch with this one. I tried it and the lamination did not melt together sufficiently. Re-read the instructions (RTFM!!) and it did not mention using one, so I re-ran the sheet without it and it came out perfect- sealed, glossy, flat, firm.

Here's what you give up with this fantastic price- it is really slow. The feed rollers turn very slowly. If you are occasionally laminating a few sheets for home or school use, or occasional office use, get it, it'll work great. If you have to have dozens of sheets laminated for work tomorrow or use it regularly, get a pro laminator because you'll be up all night waiting for this thing to process all of those sheets. Considering that we paid a few hundred for the one at the office, that this one gives the same finished results for less than 1/10 the cost is incredible. Add to that that 3mil and 5mil sheets in hundred packs here at Amazon are dirt cheap, you have a winning combo.

Overall, I like it and the price can not be beat. Compact, does the job, etc. Fits in a drawer until I need it. We'll see if it lasts.

Everything that I've bought with the Amazon Basics label has worked well.

3Good Basic Laminator (But You Better Know How To Use It!)
By Rick L. Parrish
This is a good basic laminator put out by Amazon. It is solid and well built and functions easily with a small learning curve. My only gripe is the complete lack of any instructions whatsoever other than an admonition on the box cover to go to Amazon to learn more about the product. I was a complete novice and if someone in this review section hadn't shown the way to a .pdf manual I wouldn't have had the slightest idea how to use it. That is not the way to do business in my estimation. The price is right. The product does what it's supposed to (but get some pouches cause it only comes with two of the large ones). I realize that manufacturers are all cutting back on supplied manuals in favor of downloaded ones but they should at least include instructions for how to do that!!!!
I'm a little disappointed in Amazon on this one.
