5Works great but needs software
By Erica Douglass
I lost the dongle to my Anywhere MX mouse (great mouse, by the way) in a move, and couldn't find it even after unpacking everything in my new house. So I bought this new one--cheaper than buying a new mouse!

It works great, but beware that you need to download the "Unifying" software from Logitech's website to get the receiver to "pair" with your mouse. This is easy, free, and painless, but it did catch me off guard for a second when I plugged it in and it didn't work right away! (This is on Windows 7 Pro.)

Fortunately the instruction manual was pretty clear, and the software was a quick download. After installing the software, it works perfectly.

I wish Amazon would stock these on Prime--I'm a little spoiled by Prime's fast shipping--but it still got to my house in less than a week.

4Beware of use
By J. Eskew
My wife has two laptops, one for work, the other for personal use. She wanted to use the same keyboard & mouse (k/m) for both computers, using separate unifying receivers. This cannot be done; you cannot pair the same k/m with two different unifying receivers. I found this out after making my purchase, via an on line help video and of course I just had to try it myself. It just doesn't work. Now I have an extra receiver for that rainy day.

5You'll need it for current Logitech wireless keyboards and pointing devices (Ubuntu-friendly too!)...
By 35-year Technology Consumer
If you have a current Logitech wireless keyboard, mouse or touchpad, this is the device that enables communication between your 'puter and the input device.

10 years ago the transceiver for wireless mice and keyboards was about the size of a travel mouse. Today, the unifying receiver (which is technically a transceiver) is barely bigger than the USB plug attached to it (total dimensions are about 3/4" x 1/2").

This will connect up to six compatible devices. It's small enough that I can leave it plugged into laptop all the time, and do so without worry of it snagging when taking the laptop in and out of its carry bag.

This also worked out of the box with Unbuntu (12.04 lTS) for controlling a Logitech T650 touchpad and a K360 wireless keyboard

No wires, less congestion around the motherboard's input/output zone, and no worries about where to place the transceiver. Very nice.
