Portable Multi-Card (SD, SDHC, CF, MMC, Etc.) Reader

This little multi-card reader is a nice item to have...it's small enough to carry with you to use with your laptop, netbook or other USB enabled device to read, copy or transfer files on various memory cards.

My main purpose was to have a CF (compact flash, which I still use) reader to use with my laptop. For the couple of bucks paid, I am very happy with this item.

The only thing lacking is that it will only read one card at a time...it shows as a single USB connected device in Windows Explorer (My Computer).

Still, this is just a very convenient card reader to have available.

So i bought a Lexar and an Esecure All in 1 mini card reader. Today i received both and put them to the test.

TEST
Transfer 4 mov files that total 877mb. Here are the results.
CF Card used Transcend 600x

Lexar (FIREWIRE 400)
test 1 = 00:00'58"3
test 2 = 00:00'58"4
test 3 = 00:00'58"3

Esecure (USB 2.0)
test 1 = 00:00'27"1
test 2 = 00:00'34"2
test 3 = 00:00'26"1

I was a little disappointed that the Lexar took longer because i expected it to be faster.

Lexar - CF cards ONLY
Esecure - 150 different cards

Lexar - Expensive (approx $45)
Esecure - Cheap (approx $10)

The size of the Esecure is smaller than the Lexar.

WINNER ESECURE ALL in 1 by far. Recommended by me.

I'll update review if things change as far as malfunctions and durability.

Don't be tempted to buy this card reader if you use CF.

The form factor and feature set for this card reader is awesome. The price is awesome too. I read all the reviews for this card reader and decided that I am more careful than the other reviewers who bent the pins in the CF slot. Wrong. Even though I knew to be extra careful and I have never bent a pin in another CF reader, this one bent after only a few uses. If you need to use the CF slot, find another product.
